Chamber music of ‘passion and persuasion’

Concerts Penzance welcome the Castalian String Quartet to St. John’s Hall at 7.30pm on Saturday 10th December.   Lead by the outstanding young Finish violinist Sini Simonen, who stamps her persuasive musical personality on their performances, the quartet were the only European quartet to get through to the final stages of the prestigious Banff International Competition where they won 3rd prize this autumn.

Described in the Canadian press as ‘…like an orator who knows how to convince with both passion and persuasion, the Castalian String Quartet makes the simplest thing we hear into the most important thing we could ever want to hear.’

For Concerts Penzance the musicians present quartets by Haydn (Op.76 No.1) and Brahms (no. 3 in B flat), along with Four Quartets by Thomas Ades, the British composer whose genius has intrigued and inspired many musicians for over two decades.

Tickets cost £12 or just £3 for young people, available on the door or in advance from Mounts Bay Wine, Bread Street, Penzance.
